Social Justice Projects

Annunciation students share their time, talents and treasures with the outside community - locally, nationally and internationally. All grade levels focus upon a specific social justice project, learning how their efforts can make a difference. Below you will find information regarding the most recent projects.

PreK & K - Students collect pledges for HOPS to cure Leukemia and Lymphoma. In the past few years Annunciation collected more money for this organization than any other school in New Mexico.

1st Grade - Students collect gently used books for Barrett House (local homeless shelter for women and children). Over 750 books were collected in December of 2010.

2nd Grade - Students donate Easter Baskets for children at Joy Junction (local homeless shelter).

3rd Grade - Students focus on recycling all year. Additionally, they support St. Jude's Hospital by providing waiting room bags. The items for these bags were purchased with funds raised ($560) through a cookie and lemonade sale.

4th Grade - Students earned money on their own and purchased 120 pairs of pajamas. They donated the pajamas to SAFE House, a home for survivors of domestic violence.

5th Grade - Students raised money and walked for Juvenile Diabetes. Students also work a monthly Roadrunner Food Bank mobile food pantry.

6th Grade - Students organized a campaign to collect coats for Koats 4 Kids (361) and blankets (89) for those in need.

7th  8th Grade - Students organized a campaign to collect toiletry items (40 bags and $100) for the Little Sisters of the Poor who care for the elderly.
