Is Annunciation an Accredited school?
Annunciation Catholic School is accredited by AdvanceEd/North Central Association (formerly NCEA). This is an international organization that is responsible for accrediting schools throughout the world. Our teachers hold NM teaching licenses.
How many students attend Annunciation?
School enrollment consists of approximately 430 students. Our maximum enrollment is 445 students.
What are the School Hours?
Regular School Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. School is dismissed at 1:00pm typically the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month.
Do you have a Non-Discriminatory Policy?
The schools of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made on the basis of sex, race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of school educational policies, admission policies, athletic and other school-administered programs.
Are you able to assist students with Special Needs?
The Catholic Schools are not equipped to meet the needs of students who have special needs beyond the regular curricula. It is unjust to attempt to meet a student's special needs if the classroom teacher is not trained in that specialty. If a teacher observes that a student is having academic or social difficulty, he/she will to discuss the matter with the principal and the parent and/or guardian.
What is the Age Requirement for Admission?
• Students entering PreK must be four years of age prior to 12:01 a.m. on September 1st of the current school year.
• Students entering kindergarten must be five years of age prior to 12:01 a.m. on September 1st of the current school year; completion of a preschool program does not replace the minimum kindergarten age requirement.
• A student transferring from another state where that state's date requirement is later than New Mexico's is exempted from the age requirement.
How much is tuition at Annunciation?
Do students attend Mass daily?
The student body attends mass together once a week. Masses are prepared and presented by a specified class. Religion lessons occur daily. Bible study groups have recently started in the Middle School. First Eucharist preparation occurs in 3rd grade.
Is homework assigned regularly?
Homework is assigned, but should not exceed 15 minutes in Kindergarten; Grades 1-2 will not have more than 30 minutes; grades 3-5 no more than 50 minutes; while MS homework should not exceed 90 minutes.

Are any extra-curricular activities offered?

What school do students attend after completing Middle School at Annunciation?
Approximately 60% of our exiting 8th grade students attend St. Pius X High School. In the past 5 years, 99.9% of students who applied were accepted to St. Pius.
Is the Pastor involved in the school’s daily activities?
Father J. Voorhies is our pastor. He is involved with all aspects of the school - visiting classes weekly, participating in the Christmas Program & Talent Show, attending athletic events and competitions, meeting with students as needed and guiding sacramental preparation.
Are parents required to volunteer a certain number of hours per school year?
We do not require any volunteer hours as we believe that parents who are able and willing will do what they can. Parents who are involved help in classrooms, assist the computer teacher and librarian, coordinated special events, teach lessons in a specialty area, and coach athletic and academic teams.
Must my child wear a uniform?
Yes, all Annunciation students wear uniforms that help to identify our students. Please refer to the Student Handbook for specific grade-level requirements. In addition, we allow casual attire for Spirit Wear Days. Spirit wear consists of jeans and any Annunciation event t-shirt.
Do you provide childcare before and/or after school hours?
Before school drop off begins at 7:30 a.m. and is free of charge. An after care program is available for an hourly fee of $5 prorated to the 1/2 hour. A discount is given if used full time.
